LaVonne Marshall

I am the founder and owner of Vision 2 Reality which was established
in 2005. I have 18 years of sewing experience and originally
gained my initial sewing skills as a dress maker’s assistant
cutting patterns. Cutting patterns was not the most glamorous
job, but it allowed me to retain an enormous amount of skills.
It gave me an understanding of the sewing process and a respect
for the tailoring profession. For me, sewing is a gift from
GOD, not a trade that I learned.

What is your favorite childhood memory?
When I was a young girl, my grandmother and great aunt used
to make my Barbie clothes. I was so inspired and dreamed of
being a fashion designer (which is currently in the works).
During my teenage years, I wanted a sewing machine for Christmas,
and remember thinking if I got anything else it would be a waste
of my parents’ money. I did receive a sewing machine and
still have it today.

What excites you most about custom interior
and what opportunities do you see?
I get excited when a client moves forward in hiring me to customize
his or her home for an affordable price. I am elated when my
clients tell me that I’ve saved them hundreds and sometimes
thousands of dollars, and that they are very pleased with the
finished product. I anticipate using my business opportunities
and contacts to take over the customized drapery retail business
in Charlotte, and being known for my quality work. I would also
like to increase my customer base from residential to commercial
in the future as well.
